How Measure A Funds Would be Used

The Palo Alto Unified School District plans to use the revenue from each Measure A $493 parcel tax payment to:

Maintain Programs Supported by the Expiring Parcel Tax Approved by Voters in 2001:  

bullet

$ 212 (43% of Measure A revenue) – Maintain current K-10 class size

bullet

$ 154 (31%) – Avoid teacher layoffs

Restore Some Programs and Services Lost or Reduced in Prior Funding Cuts:

bullet

$ 50 (10%)  – Reinstate some secondary school classes

bullet

$ 19  ( 4%)  – Restore some staff for K-12 instructional programs and school site support 

bullet

$ 18 (3.5%) – Restore some guidance and counseling services

bullet

$ 15 ( 3%) –   Restore certain K-5 literacy and art programs

bullet

$ 14 ( 3%) –   Restore certain K-12 instructional materials

bullet

$   9 ( 2%) –   Restore some librarian hours

bullet

$   2 (0.5%) – Restore some teacher training
